John Johnson

John Johnson Born July 5, 1941 in Gary, Indiana Johnson was raised in the Northern Indiana where he attended Hobart High School. Played for Indiana Hall of Fame, legendary coach and mentor Russ Deal and a member of Hobart's winning Football Teams from 1957, 1958 and 1959 with combined records of 24 wins, 2 losses and one tie. He was a member of the first undefeated football team at Hobart in 1959, with record of 8-0-1. While at Hobart John was a stand out in football receiving All Conference, All-State Honors in 1959 and named a High School All-American. Following his senior season he was selected to play in the North vs. South High School All American Classic in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Following that game he was one of 33 All American players selected to play against the Pennsylvania Big 33 All-State team. In December 2004: Selected by The Gary Post Tribune's, John Mutka: All-Time All-Northwest Indiana Football Team-"Post-1960". Also named in top ten players as "Simply The Best" Half-Century All-Star Football Team.
Attend and play football at Indiana University for Coach Phil Dickens. John was a three year starter and Indiana Letterman; Selected Honorable Mention All Big Ten 1962; Selected starting lineman Blue-Gray Football Christmas Classic North Team, and 1962 post season Crusade Bowl for Cancer.
In the 1963 NFL draft, John was selected by George Halas and the Chicago Bears in the fifth round. During the 1963 season John saw action as a backup defensive tackle. In his first starting role against the Los Angeles Rams (6-0) he was awarded the game ball for outstanding achievement. However, 1963 was a magical year for him and his teammates as they went on to capture the World Championship against the New York Giants 14-10. During that championship game John recorded five unassisted tackles, and four assisted while knocking New York's running back Joe Morrisson out of the game. John went on to play for the Bears for seven seasons, leaving the team to play his final year in 1969 for the New York Giants. John's best season came in 1968 with the Bears when he played in all 14 games, starting in three and was awarded a second game ball against the Green Bay Packers. He had a total of 45 tackles that season including five quarterback sacks. In 2006 received the Chicago Sports Hall of Fame George Conner award and was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall Of Fame.
While playing with the Bears, John started his professional business career as a management consultant with mentor and coach John Paisios & Associates, a prestigious Human Resources Consultant. John is currently Chairman of The John Joseph Group, Ltd an International Human Resources and Executive Search Consultant celebrating 30 years in business.
